Parts and categories
Your price list, bulk import, price history, and grouping parts into included or optional add-ons.
Parts
A part is anything that shows up as a line on a quote: a product, a component, a service, a fee you charge per unit. Go to Parts and click + New part, or import your whole list at once (see below).
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| SKU | Your product code, for example DOOR_PANEL. Must be unique. Rules refer to parts by SKU, so pick one you won’t need to change. |
| Name | What customers see on the quote, for example “Steel door panel”. |
| Unit price | Price for one unit, in your store currency. |
| Description | Optional. For your team’s reference. |
| Category | Optional label, such as “Door”, “Hardware” or “Services”. Lines with the same label are grouped together in the customer’s build summary. This is separate from the Categories page described below. |
| Active | Off removes the part from the configurator. Answers and rules that would add it simply don’t. |
Services are parts too. Installation, haul-away, delivery and warranties all work well as parts with a price. That way they show as clear lines on the quote.
Changing prices
Edit the part and change Unit price, then publish. Customers see the new price once it’s published. Quotes already submitted keep the price they were submitted with.
Every price change is recorded. Open a part to see its Price history: when the price changed, who changed it, the old and new price, and the difference. For price changes across all parts, see History.
Import parts from a spreadsheet
Click Import on the Parts page and upload a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file.
- Required columns:
sku,name,unit_price - Optional columns:
description,active(trueorfalse)
Rows whose SKU already exists update that part. New SKUs create a new part. The import is all-or-nothing: if any row has a problem, nothing is saved and you get a list of the rows to fix, by row number. Download CSV template gives you a file with the right headers.
This is also the quickest way to apply a supplier price increase: export your price list from your own system, update the unit_price column, and re-import it.
Deleting a part
You can’t delete a part that’s still in use by an answer option, a yes/no question, a category or a rule. The part editor’s Used by rules list shows which rules use it. Usually it’s better to turn Active off.
Categories
A category is a group of parts shown inside a section, below that section’s questions. Use categories for things that don’t need a question:
- Always included parts are added to every quote and shown under Included. Good for things every job needs, like “Hinges, brackets and misc hardware”. Customers see that they’re getting them.
- Optional parts are shown under Optional add-ons as cards customers can tick, without you having to write a yes/no question for each one.
To create one, go to Categories and click + New category:
- Pick the Section it appears in, give it a Name (for example “Required hardware”) and an optional Description.
- Under Parts, use + Add part. For each part choose the Mode: Always included or Optional.
- Set the Order and save.
Each part has a Qty, 1 by default. To scale it with a number question, set Per to that question, for example per Openings, and the quote gets Qty × the customer’s answer.
Category or question?
| Use a… | When |
|---|---|
| Yes/no question with parts | You want to ask about it explicitly, or another rule needs to react to the answer. |
| Optional category part | It’s a simple add-on, and you have several of them that would otherwise each be their own question. |
| Always-included category part | Every quote needs it and you want customers to see it. |
| Rule with Add part | The part depends on a combination of several answers, or its quantity needs a formula like openings * 2 + 1. |
